Juma Sustainable Development Reserve REDD+

The project aims to reduce deforestation and promote sustainable land use practices in the Amazon rainforest. Its primary objective is to mitigate climate change by preventing carbon emissions resulting from deforestation and forest degradation.

The Juma project actively involves local communities living within the reserve. It supports community-led initiatives for sustainable agriculture, agroforestry, and income-generating activities that reduce dependence on activities that contribute to deforestation.

The project focuses on carbon capture through the protection and sustainable management of the forest. By preventing deforestation and supporting community-led sustainable livelihood activities, the project contributes to the sequestration of carbon dioxide.

The project has undergone verification processes to ensure compliance with recognized standards such as the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) or other applicable methodologies. Verification ensures the integrity and credibility of the carbon offsets generated by the project.

The Juma project generates carbon credits that can be sold in the voluntary carbon market. The revenue from the sale of carbon credits is reinvested in community development initiatives, conservation efforts, and the sustainable management of the reserve.

In addition to carbon sequestration, the project delivers co-benefits such as biodiversity conservation, protection of indigenous communities' rights, and improvement of local livelihoods.
